Chris Pruitt, executive vice president of East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., was honored with the prestigious Wilbur H. Doran Award in recognition of his outstanding work with United Way and in the community. Chris currently serves United Way as chairman of the board of directors, but he has also volunteered his time and talents for United Way in nearly every capacity for more than 20 years. His outstanding financial skills, his keen insight and his ability to engage others in the pursuit of building a stronger community have made him a highly valued volunteer whose impact will continue to be felt in our community for many years to come. Stamp Out Hunger
 On May 14, letter carriers throughout Berks County will be collecting non-perishable food items as part of the the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers in participating areas will distribute paper bags to residences along their routes beginning May 9. Non-perishable food items can be placed in the bags and left by the mailbox on May 14.
Participating post offices are: all Reading 196 offices, Birdsboro, Douglassville, Mohnton, Shoemakersville, Hamburg, Kutztown, Fleetwood, Temple, Robesonia, Wernersville and Womelsdorf.
